We were blessed to have been able to create a set of simple but powerful circuit control products to convert, essentially dumb electrical switchgear to smart, wifi-controlled units. The design, development, manufacture, test, and installation of these units started our business from where we received orders from various homeowners. Helping them manage electrical systems and automating their offices and homes. Our flagship project at that time was completed in Llandudno, Cape Town, South Africa which showed that there is no job too small, too big, or too prestigious to take on for 80degreeswest. As we progressed other opportunities in the form of wider IoT and SAAS platform centralized dashboard and control system deployments started to present themselves. 80DegreesWest during this time has proudly also widened its ability to consult, develop and design across platforms catering for the digital transformation of our clients. ​ Friendships are the bonds in life we must treasure forever, for they provide the moments for introspection, self-improvement, adjustment, learning, and the nurturing of new opportunities. After a 2.5 -hour consultation phone call in 2018 with the managing director of a construction supply company in the USA, we were certain that we had to and felt destined to do something for businesses to manage their operational data and sales cycles more effectively. We used our experience and also did intensive industry research on ERP, CRM, and IMS systems, asking about what it does, what it is supposed to do, and what pain points it does not address. We had 2 options, create our own or take available open use systems to cater to obvious requirements. Due to timeframes and operational pressures within the customer business, we decided on the latter. In 2019 we very successfully integrated, Axelor together with new in-house developed functionality a system to cater for CRM, IMS, and HR management for the customer in the USA. We aptly named it “explorer” The system helped us to identify what’s required in the market and provided us with the knowledge of what "not" to place in front of business users to be able to make their lives easier and simpler. With this in mind and with the support of our clients, we started to develop from scratch “explorerBi” to hone in on what we learned with Axelor and implement our footprint and version of a Business Intelligence cantered CRM for sales-based businesses. explorerBi today has grown into explorerBi – Realtor and explorerBi – Hospitality to provide our customers solutions to their specific needs in their industries. These SAAS platform-based solutions with the slogan of “ Your reality – Made Simple” are today the core SAAS offering to 80DegreesWest customers. Our customers benefit daily from the learnings we have from deployments in our globally deployed footprint. ExplorerBi - Realtor is an integral part of the explorerBi software-as-a-service customer relationship management platform. It changes the way that property developers take control and have quick and easy insights into their investments. Although 80DegreesWest has grown and evolved from technology hardware and business software development, from which we have learned a lot, we do consult, design, assist and develop daily for many other digital transformation strategies as well.
